About Us

Shanna Ezzell is the President and founder of SKE Strategies. She has spent her career at the center of California policy and politics building a career defined by an equal passion for winning elections and shaping policy. She is, at heart, a problem solver — someone who thrives on untangling complexity, anticipating the next move, and finding the strategic opening that others overlook.

She found her passion for campaigns after answering a posting for interns for a State Assembly race and has since held nearly every role a campaign has to offer — from organizer to field director to campaign manager. She has managed some of the most competitive Assembly races in the state, flipping five swing districts from red to blue in races decided by hard work, sharp strategy, disciplined messaging, and field operations that execute when it counts. She knows how to read a political landscape, identify where a race is won or lost, and build a strategy that accounts for every variable. Her campaign work spans city and local races, state legislative campaigns, and statewide efforts, for both candidate and independent expenditures.

Shanna's career in the State Legislature also began with an internship. She spent over a decade advancing through legislative and communications roles in both the California State Assembly and Senate before becoming a Legislative Director and ultimately serving 6 years as Deputy Chief of Staff in the California State Assembly. Her broad range of experience includes serving as an advisor to the Chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, working collaboratively with stakeholders, and managing complex legislation championing persons with disabilities, addressing the mental health crisis, reducing gun violence, defending workers and protecting foster youth. In her work she operated at the highest levels of political and policy decision-making — developing a command of how the institution works, how decisions actually get made, and what it takes to move people and policy in one of the most complex political environments in the country.
